Hello, I’m Shel!

I want to empower all beings to be their authentic self, unapologetically – including you!

For me, yoga has been – and continues to be – a journey to my true self. Growing up I was always the outcast because I was too tall, too skinny, too pale, too smart, too whatever. Eventually, I stopped trying to be me and started to be more of what people wanted so much that I lost the connection with one of the most important people, me.

I know the struggle of low self-esteem, lack of confidence, and disdain for my body. I know what it’s like to be in room full of people and feel completely alone. I know how it feels to think “I’m not enough.”

What I’ve learned is how to accept myself. Instead of being ashamed of what others might see as imperfections and flaws, I am accepting them – without apology – as what makes me an individual and human.

Yoga gave me that. I want to do my best to share those gifts with you as well.

My goal as a yoga teacher is to champion the journey for those who may also feel like an outsider. I want to do this by sharing with you. By giving you the tools to make yoga postures (asana) work for you, not the other way around. By sharing ideas that can be taken off the mat and practiced with the world.
